Greetings

The Waters family origins in Aotearoa New Zealand trace back to the 1850's and 1860's. We now number in the hundreds, and thus justify the indulgence of this humble corner of the web.

Origins

Frederick Waters married Catherine Gibson in 1856 in New Zealand before returning to Australia and having two children William (1860–1939) and Jane (1862–1900). They returned to New Zealand while the children were infants, before Frederick passed away in Australia in 1866. 

William married Anne Henry in Patamahoe in 1890. They had twelve children, and it's their family and descendants this site primarily describes. 

Jane married John Read in 1882 at the age of 20. She died in Christchurch in 1900.
